F=Mass x Accel
free falling body, uniform acceleration (Newton's 2nd Law) F=mg (g = gravitational field strength)
So, from physics we can use the formula for constant acceleration: x - x0 = v0 * t + 1/2 a*t*t
velocity = v = sqrt(2gh)
time = t = sqrt(2h/g)
v= sqrt(2 x 32 ft/s/s x 30 ft) = 43.81 ft per sec
t= sqrt(2 x 30 / 32) = 1.369 sec
From these formulas, an object would take 1.37 seconds to fall 30 feet, and would be traveling 43.8 ft/s when it gets there.
F = 5 lbs x 43.8 ft/s = 219 pound-force (lbf)
