The cylinder volume is radius squared multiplied by Pi and multiplied by the height. V = pi * R^2 * H. Thus R = sqrt( V / H / pi ).
Let's calculate everything in inches. One cubic yard equals to 46,660 cubic inches (see
volume conversions page).
R = sqrt( 46,660 / 48 / 3.14 ) = 17.6"
