Angela:
The area it will cover is exactly 2500 square meters (if nothing changes in the soil dynamics).
If you have 2500 cubic meters, you have 2500 separate units that measure 1 meter long x 1 meter wide x 1 meter tall.
2500 cubic meters / 1 meter high = 2500 square meters.
If you take the square root of 2500 square meters, you will have one side of the area it will cover, which is 50 meters. 50 meters x 50 meters = 2500 square meters with soil 1 meter deep.
You want it 0.5 meters thick? 2500 cubic meters / 0.5 meter = 5000 square meters. The square root of 5000 is 70.71 meters, so the area covered will be 70.71 meters long x 70.71 meters wide x 0.5 meters high.
A cubic meter is a volume, a tonne is a unit of mass. Although a cubic meter of something may weigh a tonne, the units aren't synonymous.
