I have a fan that delivers air at a rate of 600 feet/min through a 3.5 inch diameter pipe. What is the capacity of the fan in cubic feet per minute?

Given:D=3.5"
Velocity = 600 fpm
Formula: Area =R2x3.146
CFM = AxV
Solve:
D=3.5
R=(3.5/2)=1.75
R2=(1.75x1.75)=3.0625
Area = 3.0625x3.146 = 9.6346/144 = 0.0669 Round to .07 sq.in.
CFM=.07x600=42 CFM (cu.ft./min
