You can't convert a line into cubic feet. A line is one-dimensional.

To convert to cubic anything, you need a three-dimensional object, which adds a width and a depth, at a minimum.

1,728 cubic inches are in a cubic foot.

Dirtman is correct, you need a length, width, and depth for volume.

Ex:

12in tall * 12in wide * 12in deep = 12^3 = 1728in^3

Without knowing at least 2 sides you can't get a length. 19.8 cubic feet could be anysize or shape.

However, if it is a perfect cube, just take the cube root (^1/3) and you will get what the length, width, and height would be.

It sounds like you're trying to size up a refrigerator or freezer.

help

Postby winfrey1234 » Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:37 am

A family is going to keep their furniture in a storage facility for six months until their new home is ready for occupancy. If the storage space is 32 by 160 by 10 feet high and the facility charges $1 per cubic yard each month, what will the monthly storage cost be to the family?

PLEASE HELP!!

If your storage shed is 32ft X 160ft X 10ft, then that is a total of 51200 cubic feet.

Divide by 27 cubic feet to get cubic yards, which is 1896.30 cubic yards.

$1 per cubic yard would be $1896.30 per month, for a grand total of $11,377.78 for the 6 month duration.

A 5,120 ft^2 storage room?! I would call that a warehouse! This is either homework or it's going to be a really big house!

Yeah my impression exactly. I could assume the first two measurements to be inches and the height in feet, but for completeness I assumed they were all in feet.

Postby sdhsh » Wed Mar 11, 2009 11:24 pm

For math I have to find the volume of a cylinder, the diameter is: 3 inches and the height is 6 inches. how do I find out how much cubic inches of wax was used to make the candle?

A cylindrical candle has a diameter of 3 inches and a height of 6 inches. How many cubic inches of wax were used to make the candle?
42.39 cubic inches
18.00 cubic inches
56.52 cubic inches
84.78 cubic inches

Volume of a cylinder
V = (pi)*r²*h or (pi/4)*d²*h,
you do the math

The cube root of 8000 is 20, so the project should be approximately 20cm x 20cm x 20cm or any similar derivative. As an example: 10cm x 30cm x 27cm = 8100 cu. cm
