Hi,
I belong to a long distance casting club and I have a mathematical question I cant figure out although I am sure it is quite simple.
Our casting court is laid out at a 30 degree angle. From there a center line is is set and marked at 100 ft intervals. 15 degrees to each side of the center line are the left and right borders which are also marked at 100 foot intervals. A straight line is then run from the center line to each side border. To measure distance of each cast, a measure is done from this line and out to where the casters lead landed. My question is whether these measurements are accurate as I feel that since the court is set at an angle the line from center line to border should be an arch rather than a straight line. Am I correct on this? If so, what is the difference between the arch and the straight line at the varying distances?
