Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,
Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Convert Amperage to Temperature?

If someone could help. We have special, heat resistant (aluminum) tape for the welding industry. Based on the 2 sizes/thicknesses involved - one is rated at a maximum use (limit) of 130 amps and the other is rated at a maximum use (limit) of 250 amps. I am frequently asked what the temperature limits are for these tapes - and I don't have an answer, nor do I know what conversion method/formula to use... Anyone?? (Fahrenheit or Celsius is okay)

Sorry for the late answer. At a minimum, you would also need the wire size in the body of the tape, the length of that wire, voltage and the thermal properties of the aluminum material in the tape.
I suggest you call the manufacturer. They should be able to give the information you need.

You need to classify the size and the length of the wire. Consider also the measurement of the amp. Then, you can specify the properties of all materials in the tape. With this, you can assume that it is the maximum use of the aluminum.
