I use a table to help me teach metric unit conversions.
First to learn the order of metric units you should memorize the following:
Kangaroos Hopping Down Mountains Drinking Chocolate Milk hop hop Milkshake
The words will help you remember Kilo Hecto Deka Meter (base) deci centi milli micro
If you make a chart with these as the heading for each column, then you can start making conversions. Start with your base unit and move to the desired unit. If you move move to the left of your base, you will move the decimal to the left. If you move to the right, you will move the decimal to the right. Therefore, 125 mcg will equal 0.125 mg because you moved from your base number (3 places to the left which make you move your decimal 3 places to the left) Good Luck! Hope this helps.
