Plastic sheet thickness conversion

Postby jrichardson » Wed Nov 19, 2008 1:10 am

I am interested in a plastic product about the size of an automobile license plate, found in a catalog that states a thickness of".55 gauge" Can anyone give me a formula to convert this number to inches (or even millimeters would help)
Thanks in advance.

I found a conversion (mm/ gauge) for sheet metal (ferrous and nonferrous) but I can't seem to find a way to convert plastic thicknesses between "mil", "mm" and "gauge". Each brand seems to use their own unit - making it impossible to compare. Your help would be most appreciated.JMK Design
