Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Thank you for being with us and sorry for any inconveniences this could caused.

Is there a timeline for the USofA to switch to metric system? The FPS system is killing me...

I think you must not be born and raised in the USA. I was born and raised in the US and during the 70's we were learning the metric system so we could switch in the near future. It was easy to see that the metric system is far better. For example, there are 100 centimeters in a meter. There are 1000 meters in a kilometer. Why are there 12 inches in a foot? Why are there 5280 feet in a mile? It's just retarded!

The reason we didn't change from FPS to Metric in the 70's or 80's is all because of stupid people. To many retarded people afraid of change.

My friend, if you are waiting for the US to switch to metric, I hope you are under the age of 20 because otherwise you will never see it!

How did it come to be that there is 5,280 feet in a mile? Maybe someone said "let's make a mile 5000 feet" and another person said "let's make it 5,280 feet and see if people are stupid enough to go along with it!"
