conversion of psi to water column

water weighs 62.4 pounds per cubic foot.
There are 1,728 cubic inches in a cubic foot.
62.4/1,728 = weight (in pounds) of a cubic inch of water. (0.036111 pounds)
That cubic inch has a base area of 1 square inch and in one inch tall and weighs
0.036111 pounds for every inch taller you make it.
1 PSI takes 1/.036111 inches of water to equate. (27.692" column of water with a base area of one square inch weighs 1 pound)
"Head pressure" is often stated in untis of "feet."
Divide 27.692" by 12 to get feet of head in 1 psi
(2.3077 ft of head = 1 psi)
The inverse is the PSI in one ft of head.
(1/2.3077) or 0.433PSI = 1 ft. of head.

This doesn't take into account that the density of water listed is in pound mass and pressure is in pound force though. You have to go through and convert from mass to force.
