stoneware crock marking of 1/2 PIP. Help!

stoneware crock marking of 1/2 PIP. Help!

I have a stoneware salt glaze crock that measures approximately 8 inches tall with a 7.5 inch diameter. Impressed inside the lid is 1/2 PIP. I cannot find this unit of measure anywhere. I don't know if it is American, British, European or what. Can anyone help?
