You need to know the density of the specific lot of diesel fuel. There is some variation between grades of fuel (#1 and #2) and with temperature. But let's suppose is 0.82 kg/L, a fairly typical value. 1 metric ton = 1000 kg, so
1000 kg / 0.82 kg/L = 1219.5 L.
