Typically fill dirt and topsoil are sold by the ton and weigh about 1.25 tons per yard. Five yards would be about 6.25 tons, or 12,500 pounds.
A yard, FYI, is actually a cubic yard, or a cube that is one yard by one yard by one yard. One cubic yard is equal to 27 cubic feet. (Three feet per yard, so 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft = 3 x 3 x 3 ft x ft x ft = 27 ft³.)
