how many cts (gems not metal) in a gram

Postby jinjer » Mon Nov 06, 2006 6:03 am

I keep buying mini scales that are supposedly for use by jewelers, yet neither of the two I got have a setting for cts, just grams. I THINK I know how many cts per gram (but may have forgotten or messed up) but what if gem is UNDER a gram? Then what? Doesn't register at all. Can't find small, portable scale (cheap but accurate) that will give me a reading in cts. I've already spent too much to get 2 non returnable items scales that are worthless to me so can't pay much now.
Both claimed to be for jewelers, one was on Ebay & other from jewelry & gem selling website. Any ideas? [/b]
