After knowing the area, two more steps are required:
1) Detrmine the thickness, so you can calculate volume. Be sure to convert thickness to meters (it will be a small decimal) so volume is in cubic meters.
2) Find the density of the stone you are using in kilograms or metric tons per cubic meter and multiply.
The density of stone varies somewhat according to type, what quarry it comes from, etc.
