For ounces of 2-cycle oil to add to the gasoline:
Gallons * 128 / 50 = 12.8 ozThere are 128 oz per 1 gallon
50:1 ratio = 50 parts gas:1 part oil, so divide by 50
FWIW, when mixing oil with gas for 2-cycle engines, it doesn't have to be exact but it should be close.
This formula works for any gas:oil ratio. If the mixture was 30:1, it would be: gallons * 128 / 30 = 21.3 oz
