Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. I can find nothing on a hopper ton. I'd venture that its a ton of weight (can't say if its a long ton (2240 lb) or a short ton (2000 lb), or even a metric tonne (1,000 kg)) of mass in a hopper.
As far as converting a metric tonne of mass to a volume in cubic meters, you need to know what it is. Obviously a metric tonne of feathers is going to be a lot bigger that a metric tonne of lead.
