40 foot pipe needs to be slopped @ 5%

I've seen some welds that looked like they were slopped on pipe (by some sloppy welders) and some pretty sloppy work done by individuals/contractors but I've never seen pipe slopped at 5%. I have seen pipe sloped though (amazing how 1 letter can make such a difference, eh?)

To calculated the amount of rise/fall of a line (i.e., piece of pipe of any length) at 5%, multiply the length by 5%. 40 ft * 0.05 = 2 ft
