cu yds into sq ft? Possible???

Postby snakefeeder » Thu Jun 01, 2006 3:41 am

Hello All,
Is it possible to figure out how many cu yads of a material will fit into a
3' X 11' X 3' area?

Thx!

Yes, divide the cubic feet by 27 to get cubic yards. Your truck will hold 3.6667 cubic yards of loose material. 3' x 11' x 3' = 99 cubic feet / 27 = 3.6667 cubic yards.

To convert cubic yards into square feet, multiply cubic yards by 27 to convert to cubic feet. Divide one measurement out of it to get square feet.

Example: Your dump bed holds 3.6667 cubic yards. So, 3.667 x 27 = 99 cubic feet. If you divide 99 cubic feet by 3, you get the square footage of the bottom of your dump bed, which is 33 square feet.

If you divide 48" by 12", you get 4 feet. Multiply 4' * 57,600 square feet to get cubic feet. Divide cubic feet by 27 to get cubic yards.
