Converting to SI

Hey guys,

I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me?

I need to convert a rope modulus of 19555 lb/ft/ft into either kg or N per Meter/Meter. This will help me convert the follow equation into SI units:

200lbs*200ft/19555 = 2.0ft

So I know the answer needs to be around 0.6m but I can't convert the first bit of the equations correctly for some reason! Please help, the answer is proberly obvious but I've burnt out with this problem now! Also let me know if this post should be in the problem solving section?!

I don't know what symbols are customary for this, so I'll use words:

Modulus = force * length / delta_length

Length/delta_length is actually a fraction and therefore unitless, so the real units of modulus are just force, ie lbf in "english" system or newtons in SI. The modulus is 100* the force that causes a 1% change in length.

19555 lb x 4.448 222 N/lb = 86985 N
Your metric modulus is 86985 N*m/m
Either 195.55 lb or 869.85 N causes a 1% change in the rope.
