The inside area of the edging is approx. 3 ft. and we'd like to have the stone be 1.5" thick. I need to know how many cubic yards and tons this is? Can you help?
That's a lot of edging. If the area created by the edging (along with other structures) is 416' long x 3' wide, that's 416' x 3', which is 1248 ft2. I'm not sure that's actually the size of your area.
If that is the actual size of the area, then 1248 ft2 * (1.5" / 12") = 156 ft3 / 27 ft3 = 5.78 yd3 or approximately 9 tons.
If not the actual area, re-measure to determine the area in ft2, then:
- For yd3, multiply the actual area in ft2 x 0.0046314
- For tons, multiply the actual area in ft2 x 0.00721154
