Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. micro molar help please

hi all,

I have recently received results from an analysis of some sea water i had collected. The results were for the TOTAL dissolved nitrogen in the samples, ( organic and inorganic ) and were given in micromolar concentrations, um. For example sample1a=738uM=738x10-6M

how do i go about converting these into mass/volume, ie mg/L?

edit: just checked the raw data, and the column is labelled as follows:

TDN con (µM)
713.4
723.6
etc

so i take it thats a concentration as in µMol/dm3. Would I just need to multiply by 14 ( Mr of N ) to convert into grams?

micromolar

Chemists are lax about stating the units. It means micromoles per liter with the liter being left out. So it is 14*738 *10-6 g/liter
