I have a price of natural gas per MMBTU and need to convert SCFH to MMBTU to find to find my cost. I was given the following formula as the conversion, but my source was unsure as its integrity: SCFH*(cost per MMBTU)/1000 Is this correct?

If you need any great accuracy, you need to know the heat contnent of the gas you are buying. It is ROUGHLY true that the energy content is about 1000 BTU/scf so your equation would be about right for mmbtu/hr to scfh. But the energy content can certainly vary plus or minus 5% from that 1000 btu figure, maybe more. Check with your gas supplier.

Also, low quality gas such as landfill gas can be MUCH less, 500 BTU/scf or less.
