Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. Can someone explain to me how to convert cubic yards into tons using a material weight of 1.65? Thanks!

Need more information! Is the material weight in lbs/ft^3?, lbs/cy^3?, kg/m^3?
Regardless, if you divide weight/cy^3 by 2000, you will obtain tons/cy^3.
IF the material was ghost turds and the weight was 1.65 lbs/ft^3, you multiply by 27 to obtain lbs/cy^3, which would be 44.55 lbs/cy^3.
Divide by 2000 to convert to tons: 44.55 lbs/cy^3 / 2000 = 0.022275 tons/cy^3
If you had 100 cy^3 of ghost turds, multiply by 0.022275 tons/cy^3 to get the total weight, which would = 2.2275 tons
