square inch to circle size in inches

I need to create a label for my company. The label needs to be 6 square inches in size. What size circle, in inches, is required for this label? What is the formula for this type of conversion?

It appears the formula you need is for the area of a circle = Pi x r squared (i.e. multiplied by itself), where r = radius of the circle. Pi = 3.142 (approx) [often taken as 22/7].
So for your problem the area = 6 sq inches, so working backwards:
6/Pi = 1.910 = r squared, so r = square root of 1.910 = 1.382inches. This is the radius of your circle, so its diameter (=2 x r) = 2.764 inches or approx 2 3/4 inches.
