The pound is legally defined by 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg exactly.

Multiply USD/lb x 1 lb/0.45359237 kg.
You are left with USD/kg.
(or calculate the inverse once and multiply by 2.2046226, which is rounded, but more accurate than you need)

Maybe the OP is asking about converting Orange Futures in PPS ( Per Pound Solids) to USD/Kg of juice conentrate

( Not simple case of converting USD/lb solids to USD/Kg solids but to USD / Kg of Concentrate)

This depends upon the brix of the concentrate

I had once seen a web site that suggested something like this

Take US Cents /PPS

Multiply with a factor ( 1455 if I remember correctly)

Divide by 100 to convert USD/Cents

Add about USD 100 for drumming

Add freight

Add finance costs etc etc

get USD/MT CFR for 65 Brix Orange Concentrate

We have a customer who is in process manufacturing and coincidentally produces citrus juices. Their issue is that they receive in juice in gallons and process it into concentrate which they ship out in pounds solid. A problem arises because due to odd conversions, their inventory (which is lot controlled) quantities become skewed. For example, they produce 10,000 pounds solid that they want to ship but the computer system thinks they only have 9,999.83247 available to ship due to conversions along the manufacturing process and tells them they don't have enough to ship.

Anyone else experience this? If so, how do you work around it?
