Anyone know the difference between TPI, long & Short.
Is 'long' simply a rounding thing, as i notice 20000psi=about 8.9tpi long whereas 20000psi=10tpi short

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. The UK is (mostly) metric now, but when Imperial was more in use, the US and UK ton were different. The US ton, also called short ton, is 2000 pounds, the UK ton, called long ton was 2240 pounds. So there is a more than 10% difference. (The pound is the same, but not larger units, hundredweights differ in the same ratio, being 1/20 of a ton).
