Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,
Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Need more info:
1) What kind of tons? Long, short or metric?
2) What kind of material? Lead and feathers would give very different answers, because one quantity is weight and the other is volume. You need to provide density or specific gravity.
3) What kind of gallons? US or Imperial? (there are still other gallons)

You really need to know density and you may have to weigh a sample.
If I assume it is dilute, and mostly water, water is about 8.33 pounds per gallon. But if this is a concentrate of some strong chemicals, weight per gallon could be quite a bit higher. If the chemicals are in water solution, I would say it can't be lighter than water, but hard to guess how much heavier than water, maybe 10 or even 12 lb/gallon?
