Gold has a density of 19.3 grams per cc. If a gold nugget has a mass of 45.6 kg, what is its volume?

This looks very much like a homework problem.
First, you have your specific gravity in grams per cc. So lets convert the mass of the gold to grams. There are 1,000 grams per kilogram, so you have 45,600 grams. Golds density is 19.3 grams per cc. This means that every 19.3 grams is one cubic centimeter. So you'd divide 45,600 grams by 19.3 grams per cc.
45600 g ÷ 19.3 g/cc = 2,362.7 cc
Notice that grams cancel out, leaving us with cubic centimeters, which is what we want.
Now, as of 27 Sep, 2004, the price of gold is 406.80 per gram... That means you've got 18.5 million american dollars worth of gold there. Certainly you can afford to pay me for doing your math!
